Psalm 46:11 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 46:11

The Lord of hosts [is] with us; the God of Jacob [is] our
refuge.] (See Gill on Psalms 46:7). The Targum paraphrases it, "the Word of the Lord of hosts", as in ( Psalms 46:7 ) ; and the same words are here repeated, to comfort those that were fearful and unbelieving, with which the church then comforted herself.

9 He stops wars all over the world; he breaks bows, destroys spears, and sets shields on fire.
10 "Stop fighting," he says, "and know that I am God, supreme among the nations, supreme over the world."
11 The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
