Joshua 5:7

Listen to Joshua 5:7
7 The sons of these men had never been circumcised, and it was this new generation that Joshua circumcised.

Joshua 5:7 Meaning and Commentary

Joshua 5:7

And the children [whom] he raised up in their stead, them
Joshua circumcised
Who were born to them in the wilderness, and succeeded them, some of which might be near forty years of age; as for those that were born before, of which there might be many now living, they had been circumcised already, but others, were not:

for they were circumcised, because they had not circumcised them by
the way;
or while journeying the forty years in the wilderness; which, as before observed, seems to be the true reason of the omission of circumcision.

Joshua 5:7 In-Context

7 The sons of these men had never been circumcised, and it was this new generation that Joshua circumcised.
8 After the circumcision was completed, the whole nation stayed in the camp until the wounds had healed.
9 The Lord said to Joshua, "Today I have removed from you the disgrace of being slaves in Egypt." That is why the place was named Gilgal, the name it still has.
