Here we read one of the most profound verses in the entire Bible, spoken by God Himself to Solomon. It was an important message for Solomon's time, and it's equally important for us today. Part 2 of our 4th of July Special - If our Founders were alive today how different would things be? For one thing, God would not just be acknowledged, but depended upon for the freedoms He gave us. Liberty is His idea, but we have to 'keep it' or steward it, under Him. It's a gift. Our government, as designed by the Founders, will only work for 'a religious people.' We need to pray. And we need to be grateful.

Then the LORD appeared to him at night. He said to Solomon, "I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices.

I may shut the sky so that there is no rain, or command grasshoppers to devour the countryside, or send an epidemic among my people.
14
However, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, search for me, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear [their prayer] from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal their country.

My eyes will be open, and my ears will pay attention to those prayers at this place.
16
I have chosen and declared this temple holy so that my name may be placed there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.
