Romans 4:22

22 That is why his faith was regarded as God's approval of him.

Romans 4:22 Meaning and Commentary

Romans 4:22

And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
] Not because his faith was strong, and he had a full assurance of it, but because it was right, resting on the promise of God, and relying upon his power and faithfulness to perform it; for though the righteousness of faith is not imputed to any sort of believers, not to mere nominal ones, yet to all such as have true faith, though it may be but weak; for faith, as to nature, kind, and object, though not as to degree, is the same in all true believers, and the same righteousness is imputed to one as to another.

Romans 4:22 In-Context

20 He didn't doubt God's promise out of a lack of faith. Instead, giving honor to God [for the promise], he became strong because of faith
21 and was absolutely confident that God would do what he promised.
22 That is why his faith was regarded as God's approval of him.
23 But the words "his faith was regarded as God's approval of him" were written not only for him
24 but also for us. Our faith will be regarded as God's approval of us who believe in the one who brought Jesus, our Lord, back to life.
