Genesis 49:30 Meaning and Commentary

Genesis 49:30

In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before
Mamre, in the land of Canaan
This is so exactly described, that there might be no mistake about the place, see ( Genesis 23:17 Genesis 23:19 ) :

which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite, for a
possession of a burying place;
this is observed if any of the successors of Ephron, or any of the Hittites, should lay any claim unto it, or dispute the right of Jacob's sons to bury him there.

Genesis 49:30 In-Context

28 All these are the twelve tribes of Yisra'el, and this is what their father spoke to them and blessed them. He blessed everyone according to his blessing.
29 He charged them, and said to them, "I am to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of `Efron the Hittite,
30 in the cave that is in the field of Makhpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Kana`an, which Avraham bought with the field from `Efron the Hittite for a possession of a burying-place.
31 There they buried Avraham and Sarah, his wife. There they buried Yitzchak and Rivka, his wife, and there I buried Le'ah:
32 the field and the cave that is therein, which was purchased from the children of Het."
