And when he knew it of the centurion
Who might inform him of his giving up the ghost after he had cried with a loud voice, which so much affected him; and how he was found to be really dead when they came to break the legs of the malefactors; and how that one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, from whence flowed blood and water; so that there was no room to doubt of his being really dead; with which Pilate being satisfied,

he gave the body to Joseph;
ordered it to be given to him; gave him leave to take it down from the cross, and inter it.

43 Yosef of Ramatayim, a member of the council of honorable estate, who also himself was looking for the kingdom of God, came. He boldly went in to Pilate, and asked for Yeshua' body.

44 Pilate marveled if he were already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he had been dead for a while.

45 When he learned it from the centurion, he granted the body to Yosef.

46 He bought a linen cloth, and taking him down, wound him in the linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb which had been cut out of a rock. He rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.
