But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, "He who is withoutsin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."

When they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the olderones, and He was leftalone, and the woman, where she was, in the center of the court.

ThenJesusagainspoke to them, saying, "I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life."

Jesusanswered and said to them, "Evenif I testifyaboutMyself, My testimony is true, for I knowwhere I came from and where I am going; but you do not knowwhere I come from orwhere I am going.

So they were saying to Him, "Where is Your Father?" Jesusanswered, "You knowneither Me nor My Father; if you knew Me, you would know My Fatheralso."

"I havemanythings to speak and to judgeconcerning you, but He who sent Me is true; and the things which I heard from Him, these I speak to the world."

SoJesussaid, "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and I donothing on My owninitiative, but I speakthesethings as the Fathertaught Me.

Jesussaid to them, "IfGod were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceededforth and havecome from God, for I have not evencome on My owninitiative, but He sent Me.

"You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truthbecause there is notruth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

The Jewssaid to Him, "Now we know that You have a demon. Abrahamdied, and the prophets also; and You say, 'Ifanyonekeeps My word, he will never*taste of death.'

and you have not come to know Him, but I know Him; and if I say that I do not know Him, I will be a liarlike you, but I do know Him and keep His word.
