26 Y dijo Jeroboam en su corazón: Ahora se volverá el reino a la casa de David

27 si este pueblo subiere a sacrificar a la Casa del SEÑOR en Jerusalén; porque el corazón de este pueblo se convertirá a su señor Roboam rey de Judá, y me matarán a mí, y se tornarán a Roboam rey de Judá

28 Y habiendo tenido consejo, hizo el rey dos becerros de oro, y dijo al pueblo: Harto habéis subido a Jerusalén; he aquí tus dioses, oh Israel, que te hicieron subir de la tierra de Egipto

29 Y puso uno en Bet-el, y el otro puso en Dan

30 Y esto fue ocasión de pecado; porque el pueblo iba a adorar delante del uno, hasta Dan

31 Hizo también casa de lugares altos, e hizo sacerdotes de entre lo más bajo del pueblo, que no eran de los hijos de Leví

32 Entonces instituyó Jeroboam solemnidad en el mes octavo, a los quince del mes, conforme a la solemnidad que se celebraba en Judá; y sacrificó sobre un altar. Así hizo en Bet-el, sacrificando a los becerros que había hecho. Ordenó también en Bet-el sacerdotes de los lugares altos que él había fabricado

33 Sacrificó pues sobre el altar que él había hecho en Bet-el, a los quince del mes octavo, el mes que él había inventado de su corazón; e hizo fiesta a los hijos de Israel, y subió al altar para quemar incienso

INTRODUCTION TO 1 KINGS 12

This chapter relates Rehoboam's going to Shechem to be made king, and Jeroboam's return from Egypt, 1Ki 12:1,2, the people's request to Rehoboam to be eased of their taxes, as the condition of making him king, 1Ki 12:3,4, his answer to them, after three days, having had the advice both of the old and young men, which latter he followed, and gave in a rough answer, 1Ki 12:5-15, upon which ten tribes revolted from him, and two abode by him, 1Ki 12:16-20, wherefore he meditated a war against the ten tribes, but was forbid by the Lord to engage in it, 1Ki 12:21-24 and Jeroboam, in order to establish his kingdom, and preserve the people from a revolt to the house of David, because of the temple worship at Jerusalem, devised a scheme of idolatrous worship in his own territories, 1Ki 12:25-33.
