1 Después de estas cosas y de esta fidelidad, vino Senaquerib rey de los asirios, entró en Judá, y asentó campamento contra las ciudades fuertes, y determinó entrar en ellas

2 Chronicles 32:1

After these things, and the establishment thereof
What are recorded in the preceding chapters, when matters were well settled, especially with respect to religion and temple service, and when Hezekiah was well established in the throne of his kingdom, had fought with and defeated the Philistines, and cast off the Assyrian yoke, and was in very prosperous circumstances; for it was in the fourteenth year of his reign that what follows was done:

Sennacherib king of Assyria came and entered into Judah, and encamped
against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself;
or to break them, or into them; or through them ^F25 to break down the walls to take them, and join them to himself, as the Targum, and he did take them, see ( 2 Kings 18:13 ) .

1 Después de estas cosas y de esta fidelidad, vino Senaquerib rey de los asirios, entró en Judá, y asentó campamento contra las ciudades fuertes, y determinó entrar en ellas

2 Viendo, pues, Ezequías la venida de Senaquerib, y su determinación de combatir a Jerusalén

3 tuvo su consejo con sus príncipes y con sus valerosos, sobre cegar las fuentes de las aguas que estaban fuera de la ciudad; y ellos le apoyaron

4 Y se juntó mucho pueblo, y taparon todas las fuentes, y también el arroyo que va por medio de la tierra, diciendo: ¿Por qué han de hallar los reyes de Asiria muchas aguas cuando vinieren

5 Se fortaleció, pues, Ezequías, y edificó todos los muros caídos, e hizo alzar las torres, y otro muro por fuera; fortificó además a Millo en la ciudad de David, e hizo muchas espadas y paveses
