2 Samuel 2:15

Then there arose and went over by number twelve of Benjamin,
&c.] Whom Abner had picked out of that tribe, being his own, and whom he knew to be stout and courageous men, and closely attached to him. It seems by this as if Abner's men,

[which pertained to] Ishbosheth, the son of Saul,
passed over the pool of Gibeon unto Joab's men; so forward were they to engage in this duel, and it makes it still more appear that they were the aggressors:

and twelve of the servants of David;
of his army under Joab, whom Joab either selected, or they, offered themselves as willing to engage with the twelve that were come over.

13 Y Joab hijo de Sarvia, y los criados de David, salieron y los encontraron junto al estanque de Gabaón; y cuando se juntaron, se pararon los unos a un lado del estanque, y los otros al otro lado

14 Y dijo Abner a Joab: Levántense ahora los jóvenes, y maniobren delante de nosotros. Y Joab respondió: Levántense

15 Entonces se levantaron, y en número de doce, pasaron de Benjamín de la parte de Is-boset hijo de Saúl; y doce de los siervos de David

16 Y cada uno echó mano de la cabeza de su compañero, y le metió su espada por el costado de su compañero, y cayeron a una; y fue llamado aquel lugar, Helcat-hazurim (la heredad de los fuertes), el cual está en Gabaón

17 Y hubo aquel día una batalla muy recia, donde Abner y los varones de Israel fueron vencidos por los siervos de David
