Nehemiah 13:21

Then I testified against them
Against their continuance there, and threatened them, and called heaven and earth to witness what he would do to them, if they did not depart:

why lodge ye about the wall?
of the city, waiting an opportunity to get in, and tempting the Jews to come out and buy their ware:

if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you;
beat them, or slay them, at least imprison them:

from that time forth came they no more on the sabbath;
finding there was no likelihood of getting into the city, and that they were liable to be taken up and punished.

19 Sucedió pues, que cuando la sombra llegó a las puertas de Jerusalén antes del sábado, dije que se cerraren las puertas, y ordené que no las abrieran hasta después del sábado; y puse a las puertas algunos de mis criados, para que en día de sábado no entraran carga

20 Y se quedaron fuera de Jerusalén una y dos veces los negociantes, y los que vendían toda cosa

21 Y les protesté, y les dije: ¿Por qué os quedáis vosotros delante del muro? Si lo hacéis otra vez, os echaré mano. Desde entonces no vinieron en sábado

22 Y dije a los levitas que se purificaran, y vinieran a guardar las puertas, para santificar el día del sábado. También por esto acuérdate de mí, Dios mío, y perdóname según la muchedumbre de tu misericordia

23 Vi asimismo en aquellos días judíos que habían tomado mujeres de Asdod, amonitas, y moabitas
