2 Sanbalat y Gesem enviaron a decirme: Ven, y pactaremos juntos en alguna de las aldeas en el campo de Ono. Mas ellos habían pensado hacerme mal

Nehemiah 6:2

Then Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me
Messengers:

saying, come, let us meet together in some one of the villages;
in Cephirim, which Jarchi takes to be the name of a place, perhaps the same with Cephirah, a city in the tribe of Benjamin, ( Joshua 18:26 )

in the plain of Ono;
which was in the same tribe, see ( 1 Chronicles 8:12 ) , they might pretend a friendly meeting, to accommodate differences between them, or to converse together about the general interest of the king of Persia in those parts:

but they thought to do me mischief;
to kill him, or at least to confine him; this he either conjectured from their general character and behaviour, or he had intelligence of their design.

1 Y fue que habiendo oído Sanbalat, Tobías, y Gesem el árabe, y los demás de nuestros enemigos, que había yo edificado el muro, y que en él no quedaba portillo (aunque hasta aquel tiempo no había puesto puertas en las portadas)

2 Sanbalat y Gesem enviaron a decirme: Ven, y pactaremos juntos en alguna de las aldeas en el campo de Ono. Mas ellos habían pensado hacerme mal

3 Y les envié mensajeros, diciendo: Yo hago una gran obra, y no puedo ir; porque cesaría la obra, dejándola yo para ir a vosotros

4 Cuatro veces me enviaron mensajes sobre el mismo asunto por cuatro veces, y yo les respondí de la misma manera

5 Entonces Sanbalat me envió a su criado para decir lo mismo por quinta vez, con una carta abierta en su mano
