Ruth 4:9

And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people
Who were present at the gate of the city, or in court:

ye are witnesses this day that I have bought all that was Elimelech's;
all the land which belonged to him, who was the husband of Naomi, and the father of Ruth's husband, whose estate Boaz now bought, paying the value for it to Naomi:

and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's;
the two sons of Elimelech, who, had they been living, would have enjoyed their father's estate; but they being dead, it devolved on the mother, and after her on the widows, who must therefore agree to the sale of the estate, as Ruth did, see ( Ruth 4:5 ) . Of Orpah no notice is taken, because she returned to her own land; and besides Mahlon, the husband of Ruth, was the elder brother, and therefore had the first right to the inheritance; but as it was in the hands of Naomi now, the purchase was made of her principally, and therefore Boaz is said to purchase it

of the hand of Naomi;
to whom the money was paid, and who delivered the estate to him.

7 Desde hacía tiempo existía esta costumbre en Israel en la redención o contrato, que para la confirmación de cualquier negocio, el uno se quitaba el zapato y lo daba a su compañero; y éste era el testimonio en Israel

8 Entonces el que había traspasado el derecho de redención dijo a Booz: Tómalo tú. Y diciendo esto descalzó su zapato

9 Y Booz dijo a los ancianos y a todo el pueblo: Vosotros seréis hoy testigos de como tomo todas las cosas que fueron de Elimelec, y todo lo que fue de Quelión y de Mahlón, de mano de Noemí

10 Y que también tomo por mi mujer a Rut la moabita, mujer de Mahlón, para que yo levante el nombre del difunto sobre su heredad, para que el nombre del muerto no se pierda de entre sus hermanos y de la puerta de su lugar. Vosotros seréis hoy testigos

11 Y dijeron todos los del pueblo que estaban a la puerta con los ancianos: Testigos somos. El SEÑOR haga a la mujer que entra en tu casa como a Raquel y a Lea, las cuales edificaron la casa de Israel; y tú seas ilustre en Efrata, y tengas nombradía en Belén
