Job 21:10

10 Their cows conceive, and do not abort; their cows calve and do not cast forth their young.

Job 21:10 Meaning and Commentary

Job 21:10

Their bull gendereth, and faileth not
As the wicked man's prosperity is described before by the increase and comfortable settlement of his children and grandchildren, and by the peace and safety of all within doors; here it is further set forth by the increase of his cattle in the fields, one part being put for the whole, his oxen and asses, his camels and sheep, things in which the riches of men chiefly lay in those times and countries; and he was reckoned an happy man when these brought forth abundantly; see ( Psalms 144:13-15 ) ;

their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf;
both male and female succeed in propagating their species, and so in increasing the wealth of their owner; this is sometimes promised as a temporal blessing, ( Exodus 23:26 ) .

Job 21:10 In-Context

9 Their houses are safe from fear; neither is the rod of God upon them.
10 Their cows conceive, and do not abort; their cows calve and do not cast forth their young.
11 They send forth their little ones like a flock of sheep, and their children dance.
12 They jump at the sound of the timbrel and harp and rejoice at the sound of the organ.
