But he began to curse and to swear
To wish the most dreadful things upon himself, and to swear by the living God;

[saying], I know not this man of whom ye speak:

69 And the maid seeing him again began to say to those that stood by, This is one of them.
70 But he denied it again. And a little after, those that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them, for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agrees unto it.
71 And he began to curse and to swear, saying, I do not know this man of whom ye speak.
72 And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the words that Jesus had said unto him, Before the cock crows twice, thou shalt deny me three times. And thinking on this, he wept.
