Psalms 37:15 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 37:15

Their sword shall enter into their own heart
As Saul's did into his, ( 1 Samuel 31:4 ) ;

and their bows shall be broken;
the meaning is, that their efforts shall be fruitless, and their attempts in vain; the mischief they have contrived and designed for others shall fall upon themselves; see ( Psalms 7:15 ) ; and therefore the saints should not be fretful and envious.

Psalms 37:15 In-Context

13 The Lord shall laugh at him, for he sees that his day is coming.
14 He The wicked have drawn out the sword and have bent their bow to cast down the poor and needy and to slay such as are of upright conversation.
15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bow shall be broken.
16 Tet A little that a righteous man has is better than the many riches of the sinners.
17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.
