Deuteronomy 8:7

7 For Yahweh your God [is] bringing you to a good land [with] streams of water, springs and underground water, welling up in the valleys and in the hills,

Deuteronomy 8:7 Meaning and Commentary

Deuteronomy 8:7

For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land
The land of Canaan, abounding with good things after enumerated, a land flowing with milk and honey, having in it plenty of everything both for convenience and delight; which is another reason why they were under obligations to serve the Lord, to walk in his ways and keep his commandments:

a land of brooks of water;
rivers and torrents, such as Jordan, Jabbok, Kishon, Kidron, Cherith, and others:

of fountains;
as Siloam, Gihon, Etam, the baths of Tiberias, and others:

and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;
deep waters, caverns, wells, and lakes, which had their rise from such places, of which there were many. With this agrees the account of it by our countrymen, Mr. Sandys F7, as it was in the beginning of the last century; that it was adorned with beautiful mountains and luxurious valleys, the rocks producing excellent waters, and no part empty of delight or profit.

Deuteronomy 8:7 In-Context

5 And you should know with your heart that as a man disciplines his son, [so] Yahweh your God [is] disciplining you.
6 So you must keep the commandments of Yahweh your God by walking in his ways and by fearing him.
7 For Yahweh your God [is] bringing you to a good land [with] streams of water, springs and underground water, welling up in the valleys and in the hills,
8 [to] a land of wheat and barley and vines and fig trees and pomegranate trees, a land of olive trees, olive oil and honey;
9 [to] a land where you may eat food in it {without scarcity}; you will not find anything lacking in it, a land where its stones [are] iron and from its mountains you can mine copper.
