Psalms 109:20

20 Let this [be] the punishment for my accusers from Yahweh, even those who speak evil against my life.

Psalms 109:20 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 109:20

Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the Lord
Who were so many Satans, as the word used signifies; and Judas particularly is called a devil; and of the same malevolent and diabolical disposition were the Jews in general, ( John 6:70 ) ( 8:44 ) and what is before imprecated upon them is the just recompence of reward for their hatred to Christ and ill usage of him.

And of them that speak evil against my soul;
or "life" F6; in order to take it away, as did the false witnesses that rose up against him, and the Jews who charged him with sedition and blasphemy.

Psalms 109:20 In-Context

18 Because he wore a curse as his robe, let it enter {his body} like water, and into his bones like oil.
19 May it be for him like a garment [in which] he wraps, and a belt {he continually wears}.
20 Let this [be] the punishment for my accusers from Yahweh, even those who speak evil against my life.
21 But you, O Yahweh my Lord, deal with me for your name's sake. Because your loyal love [is] good, deliver me,
22 for I [am] poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.
