2 Peter 1:13

13 This is the post to which I've been assigned - keeping you alert with frequent reminders - and I'm sticking to it as long as I live.

2 Peter 1:13 Meaning and Commentary

2 Peter 1:13

Yea, I think it meet
Or "just". This is the apostle's other reason for his conduct, taken from the duty of his place and office; judging it to be what became him as an apostle and elder, and the minister of the circumcision, and was what was due to God and Christ, whom he served, and the souls of men under his care:

as long as I am in this tabernacle:
or "body", as the Syriac and Ethiopic versions render it, and so some copies; for the body is as a tabernacle for the soul to dwell in, pitched for a time, and, ere long, to be taken down; (See Gill on 2 Corinthians 5:1),

to stir you up;
to the lively exercise of grace, and constant performance of duty: by putting you in remembrance: of the said things; for saints are apt to be forgetful of their duty, and backward to it, and sluggish and slothful in it.

2 Peter 1:13 In-Context

11 the streets paved and the way wide open into the eternal kingdom of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ.
12 Because the stakes are so high, even though you're up-to-date on all this truth and practice it inside and out, I'm not going to let up for a minute in calling you to attention before it.
13 This is the post to which I've been assigned - keeping you alert with frequent reminders - and I'm sticking to it as long as I live.
14 I know that I'm to die soon; the Master has made that quite clear to me.
15 And so I am especially eager that you have all this down in black and white so that after I die, you'll have it for ready reference.
