Exodus 3:21

21 I'll see to it that this people get a hearty send-off by the Egyptians - when you leave, you won't leave empty-handed!

Exodus 3:21 Meaning and Commentary

Exodus 3:21

And I will give this people favour in the sight of the
Egyptians
That is, give the Israelites favour in their sight, a little before their departure, who should be ready to do anything for them, or bestow anything upon them; or however lend them what they would desire, being glad to be at peace with them, or get rid of them, for whose sakes they would perceive all those sore calamities came upon them, they were distressed with: and it shall come to pass, that when ye go, ye shall not go empty;
destitute of what was necessary for them, but even with great substance, as was foretold by Abraham they should, and which prophecy was now about to be fulfilled, ( Genesis 15:14 ) .

Exodus 3:21 In-Context

19 "I know that the king of Egypt won't let you go unless forced to,
20 so I'll intervene and hit Egypt where it hurts - oh, my miracles will send them reeling! - after which they'll be glad to send you off.
21 I'll see to it that this people get a hearty send-off by the Egyptians - when you leave, you won't leave empty-handed!
22 Each woman will ask her neighbor and any guests in her house for objects of silver and gold, for jewelry and extra clothes; you'll put them on your sons and daughters. Oh, you'll clean the Egyptians out!"
