"They harvest their fodder in the field And glean the vineyard of the wicked.

"10They spend the nightnaked, withoutclothing, And havenocovering against the cold.

"They are wet with the mountainrains And hug the rock for want of a shelter.

"Others snatch the 11orphan from the breast, And against the poor they take a pledge.

"They cause the poor to go about nakedwithoutclothing, And they takeaway the sheaves from the hungry.

"Others have been with those who rebel against the light; They do not want to know its waysNorabide in its paths.

"The murderer13arises at dawn; He 14kills the poor and the needy, And at night he is as a thief.

"The eye of the 15adultererwaits for the twilight, Saying, 'Noeye will see me.' And he disguises his face.

"In the dark they 16dig into houses, They 17shut themselves up by day; They do not know the light.

"For the morning is the same to him as thickdarkness, For he is familiar with the 18terrors of thickdarkness.

"They are 19insignificant on the surface of the water; Their portion is 20cursed on the earth. They do not turntoward the 21vineyards.

"Drought and heat22consume the snowwaters, So does 23Sheol those who have sinned.

"A 24mother will forget him; The 25wormfeedssweetly till he is 26nolongerremembered. And wickedness will be broken27like a tree.

"He wrongs the barrenwoman And doesnogood for 28the widow.

"But He drags off the valiant by 29His power; He rises, but 30no one hasassurance of life.

"He provides them 31with security, and they are supported; And His 32eyes are on their ways.

"They are exalted a 33littlewhile, then they are gone; Moreover, they are 34broughtlow and like everythinggathered up; Even like the heads of grain they are cutoff.

"Now if it is not so, 35who can prove me a liar, And make my speechworthless?"
