Listen to Genesis 27:8

Genesis 27:8 Meaning and Commentary

Genesis 27:8

Now therefore, my son, obey my voice
Hearken to what I am about to say, and do according to that which I command thee, in every particular;
she required of him filial obedience to all that she enjoined him; which, though not difficult to be performed, she was aware Jacob would make objections to, as he did; and therefore she is so pressing and peremptory in her injunctions, as well knowing it was respecting an affair of the greatest moment and importance.

Genesis 27:8 In-Context

6 She said to her son Jacob, "Listen, I heard your father saying to your brother Esau,
7 'Kill an animal and prepare some tasty food for me to eat. Then I will bless you in the presence of the Lord before I die.'
8 So obey me, my son, and do what I tell you.
9 Go out to our goats and bring me two of the best young ones. I will prepare them just the way your father likes them.
10 Then you will take the food to your father, and he will bless you before he dies."
