Ver. 17-20. Thou shalt not kill The following commands begin with the copulative "and", different from the manner in which they are expressed, ( Exodus 20:17 ) which joins these together, and them with the preceding ones; hence the law is by some said to be one copulative, and may serve to illustrate a passage in ( James 2:10 ) .

Remember that you were slaves in Egypt. The LORD your God reached out his mighty hand and powerful arm and brought you out of there. So he has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.

"Honor your father and mother, just as the LORD your God commanded you. Then you will live a long time in the land he is giving you. And things will go well with you there.
