Luke 21:38 Meaning and Commentary

Luke 21:38

And all the people came early in the morning
Not all the people in Jerusalem, every inhabitant of the city; this word "all", is often to be taken with a restriction, and here it designs a large number; the Persic version renders it, "vast multitudes": these, some out of curiosity, and others from a real love to him, and his ministry, rose betimes, and came early, to him in the temple, to hear him;
which is said, in commendation of Christ's hearers, and is worthy of imitation; as the former verse is a commendation of the preacher, in his constancy and diligence in his work, and following it with his prayers.

Luke 21:38 In-Context

36 "Always keep watching. Pray that you will be able to escape all that is about to happen. Also, pray that you will not be judged guilty when the Son of Man comes."
37 Each day Jesus taught at the temple. And each evening he went to spend the night on the hill called the Mount of Olives.
38 All the people came to the temple early in the morning. They wanted to hear Jesus speak.
