Proverbs 8:28

28 That was when he put the clouds above. It was when he fixed the ocean springs in place.

Proverbs 8:28 Meaning and Commentary

Proverbs 8:28

When he established the clouds above
In which the waters are bound, and yet are not rent under them; and where, in the thin air, they hang heavy with them; where they are weighed by measure, and a decree made for them when they shall fall; and when they do, the Lord makes small the drops of water, which the clouds do drop and distil on men abundantly; the spreadings of which are beyond understanding, and are unaccountable, and must be referred to the power of God; who has settled and established them in the heavens, and the laws of them, ( Job 26:8 ) ( Job 28:25 Job 28:26 ) ( Job 38:28 Job 38:29 ) ; when he strengthened the fountains of the deep;
gave them strength, and still continues it, to cast out their waters, which run into the main sea, and feed and fill it, and return to their place again; which strength of flowing and reflowing can be attributed to nothing else but to the great power of God, ( Genesis 7:11 ) ( Ecclesiastes 1:7 ) .

Proverbs 8:28 In-Context

26 It happened before the LORD made the earth and its fields. It was before he made the dust of the world.
27 I was there when he set the heavens in place. When he marked out the place where the sky meets the sea, I was there.
28 That was when he put the clouds above. It was when he fixed the ocean springs in place.
29 It was when he set limits for the sea so that the waters had to obey his command. When he marked out the foundations of the earth, I was there.
30 I was the skilled worker at his side. I was filled with delight day after day. I was always happy to be with him.
