Genesis 25:5 Meaning and Commentary

Genesis 25:5

And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.
] By his last will and testament; not all out of his own hand, while he lived, at least he reserved somewhat for himself, and for gifts to his other children; so his servant declared to the parents and friends of Rebekah, ( Genesis 24:35 ) ; wherefore some render the words here "had given" F4; or the sense is, that he had at that time purposed and promised to give all that he had to Isaac, and now he actually did it.

Genesis 25:5 In-Context

3 Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan. Dedan’s descendants were the Asshurites, Letushites, and Leummites.
4 Midian’s sons were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah. These were all descendants of Abraham through Keturah.
5 Abraham gave everything he owned to his son Isaac.
6 But before he died, he gave gifts to the sons of his concubines and sent them off to a land in the east, away from Isaac.
7 Abraham lived for 175 years,
