2 Crónicas 28:23

23 Ofreció sacrificios a los dioses de Damasco que lo habían vencido, porque dijo: «Puesto que estos dioses ayudaron a los reyes de Aram, me ayudarán a mí también si les ofrezco sacrificios»; pero en lugar de ayudarlo, lo llevaron a la ruina a él y a todo Judá.

2 Chronicles 28:23

For he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, which smote him,
&c.] As he foolishly imagined, that they might do him no more hurt; as it is said of the Indians, that they worship the devil, that he may not hurt them; but that a king of Judah should do this is monstrous stupidity; rather therefore the meaning may be, that he worshipped the gods of those that smote him, those of the men or soldiers of Damascus

21 Acaz tomó objetos valiosos del templo del Señor
, del palacio real y de las casas de los funcionarios y se los entregó al rey de Asiria como tributo; pero no le sirvió de nada.

22 Aun durante este tiempo de dificultades, el rey Acaz siguió rechazando al Señor

24 El rey tomó varios objetos del templo de Dios y los hizo pedazos. Cerró las puertas del templo del Señor
para que allí nadie pudiera adorar y levantó altares a dioses paganos en cada esquina de Jerusalén.

25 Construyó santuarios paganos en todas las ciudades de Judá para ofrecer sacrificios a otros dioses. De esa manera provocó el enojo del Señor
, Dios de sus antepasados.
