12 Cuando encontremos a David, caeremos sobre él como el rocío que cae sobre la tierra. De este modo ni él ni ninguno de sus hombres quedarán con vida.

2 Samuel 17:12

So shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be
found
For such a numerous army, which would be spread abroad, could not well fail of finding him out, let him be in what lurking place he would; whereas he might lie concealed, and escape so small a number as twelve thousand men:

and we will light upon him as the dew falleth upon the ground;
whose drops are innumerable, and cover all the ground where they fall; and the phrase not only expresses their numbers, but the irresistible force they should come with, and the manner, secretly, unawares, opportunely; the Romans had a sort of soldiers, called from the dew "rorarii", who carried light armour, and fought first in the battle, from whence they had their name, because dew falls before it rains ^F14:

and of him, and of all the men that [are] with him, there shall not be
left so much as one;
so that for the future Absalom would sit easy upon the throne, there being none left to molest him.

10 Así pues hasta los soldados más valientes, aunque tengan el corazón de un león, quedarán paralizados de miedo, porque todo Israel sabe qué poderoso guerrero es tu padre y qué valientes son sus hombres.

11 »Recomiendo que movilices a todo el ejército de Israel y que llames a los soldados desde tan lejos como Dan al norte y Beerseba al sur. De esa manera tendrás un ejército tan numeroso como la arena a la orilla del mar. Y te aconsejo que tú personalmente dirijas las tropas.

12 Cuando encontremos a David, caeremos sobre él como el rocío que cae sobre la tierra. De este modo ni él ni ninguno de sus hombres quedarán con vida.

13 Y si David llegara a escapar a una ciudad, tú tendrás a todo Israel allí a tu mando. Luego podremos tomar sogas y arrastrar las murallas de la ciudad al valle más cercano, hasta que cada piedra haya sido derribada.

14 Absalón y todos los hombres de Israel dijeron: «El consejo de Husai es mejor que el de Ahitofel». Pues el Señor
había decidido frustrar el consejo de Ahitofel, que en realidad era un plan mejor, ¡para poder traer la calamidad sobre Absalón!
