Deuteronomy 13:12

If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities
A report concerning them, anyone of them:

which the Lord thy God had given thee to dwell there;
which he had not only given them, but had put them into the possession of, and it was become their dwelling place, or was inhabited by Israelites; otherwise they were already given unto them, but did not inherit and inhabit them, and it might be possible that there might be some city or cities, at least for a time, which, though given them, were not inhabited by them, but by the Canaanites, and such cities this law did not concern: saying; as follows.

10 Tienes que apedrear a muerte a los culpables, porque han tratado de alejarte del Señor
tu Dios, quien te rescató de la tierra de Egipto, donde eras esclavo.

11 Entonces todo Israel oirá y tendrá temor, y ya nadie volverá a actuar con tanta perversidad.

12 »Cuando comiences a vivir en las ciudades que el Señor
tu Dios te da, tal vez oigas

13 que hay sinvergüenzas en medio de ti que llevan por mal camino a los habitantes de su ciudad, diciéndoles: “Vamos, rindamos culto a otros dioses”, dioses que hasta entonces tú no conocías.

14 En tales casos, analiza los hechos cuidadosamente. Si encuentras que lo que se dice es cierto y en verdad se cometió ese acto tan detestable en medio de ti,
