Ezequiel 17:17-24

17 Ni el faraón con su poderoso ejército podrá ayudar a Israel cuando el rey de Babilonia vuelva a sitiar a Jerusalén y mate a mucha gente.

18 Pues el rey de Israel despreció el tratado y no lo cumplió aun después de jurar que lo haría; así que no escapará.

19 »”Entonces esto dice el Señor
Soberano: tan cierto como que yo vivo, lo castigaré por no cumplir mi pacto y por despreciar el juramento solemne que hizo en mi nombre.

20 Arrojaré mi red sobre él y lo capturaré en mi trampa. Lo llevaré a Babilonia y lo juzgaré por haberme traicionado.

21 Todos sus mejores guerreros
morirán en batalla y los que sobrevivan serán esparcidos a los cuatro vientos. Entonces ustedes sabrán que yo, el Señor
, he hablado.

22 »”Esto dice el Señor
Soberano: tomaré una rama de la copa de un cedro alto y la plantaré sobre la cumbre de la montaña más alta de Israel.

23 Se convertirá en un cedro majestuoso, extenderá sus ramas y producirá semillas. Toda clase de aves anidarán en él y encontrarán refugio a la sombra de sus ramas.

24 Todos los árboles sabrán que soy yo, el Señor
, quien tala el árbol alto y hace crecer alto el árbol pequeño. Soy yo quien hace secar el árbol verde y le da vida al árbol seco. ¡Yo, el Señor
, he hablado y cumpliré lo que he dicho!”».

INTRODUCTION TO EZEKIEL 17

Under the simile of two eagles and a vine are represented the kings of Babylon and Egypt, and the condition of the Jews, who are threatened with ruin for their perfidy; and yet a promise is made of the raising up of the house of Judah, and family of David, in the Messiah. The prophet is bid to deliver a riddle or parable to the house of Israel, Eze 17:1,2. The riddle or parable is concerning two eagles and a vine, which is delivered, Eze 17:3-10; and the explanation of it is in Eze 17:11-15; and then the destruction of the Jews is threatened for their treachery to the king of Babylon, Eze 17:16-21; and the chapter is closed with a promise of the Messiah, and the prosperity of his kingdom, Eze 17:22-24.
