17 Pero José se molestó cuando vio que su padre puso la mano derecha sobre la cabeza de Efraín. Entonces José se la levantó para pasarla de la cabeza de Efraín a la cabeza de Manasés.

Genesis 48:17

And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon
the head of Ephraim, it displeased him
To see the younger preferred to the elder; parents, generally speaking, having the greatest regard to the firstborn with respect to honour and estate, and to them, in those times, the patriarchal blessing particularly was thought to belong; but it did not always go to them, but to the younger, as in Jacob's own case: and he held up his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head
unto Manasseh's head;
he took him by the right hand, and lifted it up from the head of Ephraim, and held it in order that he might put it by his direction on the head of Manasseh.

15 Luego bendijo a José con las siguientes palabras:
«Que el Dios delante del cual caminaron
mi abuelo Abraham y mi padre Isaac
—el Dios que ha sido mi pastor
toda mi vida, hasta el día de hoy,

16 el Ángel que me ha salvado de todo mal—
bendiga a estos muchachos.
Que ellos preserven mi nombre
y el nombre de Abraham y de Isaac.
Y que su descendencia se multiplique en gran manera
por toda la tierra».

18 —No, padre mío —le dijo—. Este es el hijo mayor; pon tu mano derecha sobre su cabeza.

19 Pero su padre se negó a hacerlo.
—Ya lo sé, hijo mío, lo sé —respondió él—. Manasés también llegará a ser un gran pueblo, pero su hermano menor será aún más grande y de su descendencia se formarán una multitud de naciones.
