Acts 14:12

And they called Barnabas Jupiter
The supreme God; it may be because that Barnabas was the oldest man, of the tallest stature, and largest bulk, and made the best figure; whereas Paul was younger, of a low stature, and mean appearance:

and Paul Mercurius,
because he was the chief speaker; Mercury was the god of eloquence, and the messenger of the gods, and the interpreter of their will ^F18; Paul being chiefly concerned in preaching and speaking to the people, they called him by the name of this God: the Jews had a doctor in their schools, whom they called (Myrbdmh vad) , "the chief of the speakers" ^F19.

10 Así que Pablo lo llamó con voz alta: «¡Levántate!». Y el hombre se puso de pie de un salto y comenzó a caminar.

11 Cuando la multitud vio lo que Pablo había hecho, gritó en su dialecto local: «¡Estos hombres son dioses en forma humana!».

13 El templo de Zeus estaba situado justo fuera de la ciudad. Así que el sacerdote del templo y la multitud llevaron toros y coronas de flores a las puertas de la ciudad, y se prepararon para ofrecerles sacrificios a los apóstoles.

14 Cuando los apóstoles Bernabé y Pablo oyeron lo que pasaba, horrorizados se rasgaron la ropa y salieron corriendo entre la gente, mientras gritaban:
