Hechos 23:13 Meaning and Commentary

Acts 23:13

And they were more than forty which had made this
conspiracy.
] Who met together, formed this resolution, entered into this scheme, and bound themselves with this oath; the word rendered "conspiracy", signifies an agreement by oath; such a number of them banded together, that they might have strength sufficient to take Paul out of the hands of the soldiers, as he was conducted by them from the castle to the temple.

11 Esa noche el Señor se le apareció a Pablo y le dijo:
12 Plan para matar a Pablo
A la mañana siguiente, un grupo de judíos
se reunió y se comprometió mediante un juramento a no comer ni beber hasta matar a Pablo.
13 Eran más de cuarenta los cómplices en la conspiración.
14 Fueron a los sacerdotes principales y a los ancianos y les dijeron: «Nos hemos comprometido mediante un juramento a no comer nada hasta que hayamos matado a Pablo.
15 Así que ustedes y el Concilio Supremo deberían pedirle al comandante que lleve otra vez a Pablo ante el Concilio. Aparenten que quieren examinar su caso más a fondo. Nosotros lo mataremos en el camino».
