15 El Señor
le dice a Edom:
«Te haré pequeña entre las naciones;
todos te despreciarán.

Jeremiah 49:15

For, lo, I will make thee small among the Heathen
Or, "I have given thee", or "made thee" ^F13; as if it respected what Edom was at first, a people few in number, and their country not large, as Aben Ezra and Kimchi, and after them Abarbinel: but it rather intends what Edom should be ^F14; and which was the reason of gathering the Chaldeans against them, to reduce their number, weaken their strength, and destroy their substance, and so make them a small, feeble, and contemptible people; as follows: [and] despised among men:
for the fewness of their men, the desolation of their country, the consumption of their wealth and riches, their poverty and meanness; see ( Obadiah 1:2 ) .

13 Pues juré por mi propio nombre —dice el Señor
—, que Bosra se convertirá en objeto de horror y en un montón de ruinas; se burlarán de ella y la maldecirán. Todas sus ciudades y aldeas quedarán desoladas para siempre».

14 He oído un mensaje del Señor
.
Se envió un embajador a las naciones para decir:
«¡Formen una coalición contra Edom,
y prepárense para la batalla!».

15 El Señor
le dice a Edom:
«Te haré pequeña entre las naciones;
todos te despreciarán.

16 Has sido engañado por tu propio orgullo
y por el temor que inspirabas en los demás.
Vives en una fortaleza de piedra
y controlas las alturas de las montañas.
Pero aun si haces tu nido con las águilas en las cumbres,
te haré caer estrepitosamente»,
dice el Señor
.

17 «Edom será objeto de espanto;
todo el que pase por ese lugar quedará horrorizado
y dará un grito de asombro por la destrucción que verá allí.
