Psalm 105:16-26

16 Mandó hambre a la tierra de Canaán,
y cortó la provisión de alimentos.

17 Luego envió a un hombre a Egipto delante de ellos:
a José, quien fue vendido como esclavo.

18 Le lastimaron los pies con grilletes
y en el cuello le pusieron un collar de hierro.

19 Hasta que llegó el momento de cumplir sus sueños,
el Señor
puso a prueba el carácter de José.

20 Entonces el faraón mandó a buscarlo y lo puso en libertad;
el gobernante de la nación le abrió la puerta de la cárcel.

21 José quedó a cargo de toda la casa del rey;
llegó a ser el administrador de todas sus posesiones.

22 Con total libertad instruía a los asistentes del rey
y enseñaba a los consejeros del rey.

23 Luego Israel llegó a Egipto;
Jacob vivió como extranjero en la tierra de Cam.

24 Y el Señor
multiplicó a los israelitas
hasta que llegaron a ser más poderosos que sus enemigos.

25 Después puso a los egipcios en contra del pueblo de Israel,
y ellos conspiraron contra los siervos del Señor
.

26 Pero el Señor
envió a su siervo Moisés,
junto con Aarón, a quien había escogido.

Psalm 105:16-26 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO PSALM 105

This psalm was penned by David, and sung at the time when the ark was brought from the house of Obededom to the place which David had prepared for it; at least the first fifteen verses of it, the other part being probably added afterwards by the same inspired penman, as appears from 1Ch 16:1-7. The subject matter of the psalm is the special and distinguishing goodness of God to the children of Israel, and to his church and people, of which they were typical: the history of God's regard to and care of their principal ancestors, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph and of the whole body of the people, in bringing them out of Egypt, leading them through the wilderness, and settling them in the land of Canaan, is here recited, as an argument for praise and thankfulness.
