1 Samuel 26:2

Then Saul arose
Immediately, glad of an opportunity to seize on David, having the same disposition towards him as ever; and perhaps had repented he had not laid hold on him when he followed him out of the cave:

and went down to the wilderness of Ziph:
or towards it:

having three thousand chosen men of Israel;
young men, so called, because usually chosen for business, and for war particularly, rather than old men; the same number he took with him when he sought him at Engedi, ( 1 Samuel 24:2 ) ;

to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph;
where or whereabouts he was informed by the Ziphites he was.

1 Los habitantes de Zif fueron a Guibeá y le dijeron a Saúl:—¿No sabe el rey que David está escondido en el monte de Jaquilá, frente al desierto?

2 Entonces Saúl se puso en marcha con los tres batallones de hombres escogidos de Israel, y bajó al desierto de Zif en busca de David.

3 Acampó en el monte de Jaquilá, que está frente al desierto, junto al camino. Cuando David, que vivía en el desierto, se dio cuenta de que Saúl venía tras él,

4 envió espías para averiguar dónde se encontraba.

5 Luego se dirigió al campamento de Saúl, y observó el lugar donde dormían Saúl y Abner hijo de Ner, jefe del ejército. Saúl estaba dentro del campamento, y el ejército lo rodeaba.
