7 Pero un hombre de Dios fue a verlo y le dijo:—Su Majestad, no permita que el ejército de Israel vaya con usted, porque el SEÑOR no está con esos efraimitas.

2 Chronicles 25:7

But there came a man of God to him
Who the Jews say ^F6 was the brother of the king, Amos, the father of Isaiah, but without foundation:

saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee;
to war against Edom; meaning the 100,000 men he had hired, and suggesting that to have them with him would not be to his advantage, but his detriment, for the following reason:

for the Lord is not with Israel,
to wit,

with all the children of Ephraim;
they being idolaters, worshippers of the calves; and as they had forsaken the Lord, he had forsaken them; therefore no help could be expected from them; the Targum is,

``the Word of the Lord is not their help.''

5 Amasías reunió a los de Judá, y puso al frente de todo Judá y Benjamín jefes de mil y de cien soldados, agrupados según sus familias patriarcales. Censó a los hombres mayores de veinte años, y resultó que había trescientos mil hombres aptos para ir a la guerra y capaces de manejar la lanza y el escudo.

6 Además, por la suma de tres mil trescientos kilos de plata contrató a cien mil guerreros valientes de Israel.

7 Pero un hombre de Dios fue a verlo y le dijo:—Su Majestad, no permita que el ejército de Israel vaya con usted, porque el SEÑOR no está con esos efraimitas.

8 Si usted va con ellos, Dios lo derribará en la cara misma de sus enemigos aunque luche valerosamente, porque Dios tiene poder para ayudar y poder para derribar.

9 Amasías le preguntó al hombre de Dios:—¿Qué va a pasar con los tres mil trescientos kilos de plata que pagué al ejército de Israel?—El SEÑOR puede darle a usted mucho más que eso —respondió.
