Daniel 2:8

The king answered and said, I know of certainty
I see plainly and clearly what you are at, and am fully assured you mean nothing, but that ye would gain the time:
or buy ^F6, or redeem time, as in ( Ephesians 5:16 ) , prolong time, put off the answer to longer time; spin out time, as people do in buying and selling; or have it in their possession and power when to answer; and so by gaining time, or being master of it, might hope something would turn up to their advantage, and extricate them out of their present difficulties: because ye see the thing is gone from me;
the dream he could not remember; or because the decree was certain which he had determined concerning them; (See Gill on Daniel 2:5).

6 Pero si me dicen lo que soñé y me explican su significado, yo les daré regalos, recompensas y grandes honores. Así que comiencen por decirme lo que soñé, y luego explíquenme su significado.

7 Los astrólogos insistieron:—Si Su Majestad les cuenta a estos siervos suyos lo que soñó, nosotros le diremos lo que significa.

8 Pero el rey les contestó:—Mi decisión ya está tomada. Eso ustedes bien lo saben, y por eso quieren ganar tiempo.

9 Si no me dicen lo que soñé, ya saben lo que les espera. Ustedes se han puesto de acuerdo para salirme con cuestiones engañosas y mal intencionadas, esperando que cambie yo de parecer. Díganme lo que soñé, y así sabré que son capaces de darme su interpretación.

10 Entonces los astrólogos le respondieron:—¡No hay nadie en la tierra capaz de hacer lo que Su Majestad nos pide! ¡Jamás a ningún rey se le ha ocurrido pedirle tal cosa a ningún mago, hechicero o astrólogo!
