28 Pero tal vez falten cinco justos para completar los cincuenta. ¿Destruirás a toda la ciudad si faltan esos cinco?—Si encuentro cuarenta y cinco justos no la destruiré —contestó el SEÑOR.

Genesis 18:28

Peradventure there should lack five of the fifty righteous,
&c.] Or there should be but forty five; for Abraham perceived, by the Lord's answer, that there were not fifty righteous persons in the place: wilt thou destroy all the city for [lack of] five?
Abraham proceeds gradually in his requests, and does not ask too much at once, lest he should not succeed: and he said, if l find there forty and five, I will not destroy [it];
that is, forty five righteous persons.

26 El SEÑOR le respondió:—Si encuentro cincuenta justos en Sodoma, por ellos perdonaré a toda la ciudad.

27 Abraham le dijo:—Reconozco que he sido muy atrevido al dirigirme a mi SEÑOR, yo, que apenas soy polvo y ceniza.

28 Pero tal vez falten cinco justos para completar los cincuenta. ¿Destruirás a toda la ciudad si faltan esos cinco?—Si encuentro cuarenta y cinco justos no la destruiré —contestó el SEÑOR.

29 Pero Abraham insistió:—Tal vez se encuentren solo cuarenta.—Por esos cuarenta justos, no destruiré la ciudad —respondió el SEÑOR.

30 Abraham volvió a insistir:—No se enoje mi SEÑOR, pero permítame seguir hablando. Tal vez se encuentren solo treinta.—No lo haré si encuentro allí a esos treinta —contestó el SEÑOR.
