El arca en Asdod y Ecrón

1 Después de capturar el arca de Dios, los filisteos la llevaron de Ebenezer a Asdod

2 y la pusieron junto a la estatua de Dagón, en el templo de ese dios.

3 Al día siguiente, cuando los habitantes de Asdod se levantaron, vieron que la estatua de Dagón estaba tirada en el suelo, boca abajo, frente al arca del SEÑOR. Así que la levantaron y la colocaron en su sitio.

4 Pero al día siguiente, cuando se levantaron, volvieron a encontrar la estatua tirada en el suelo, boca abajo, frente al arca del SEÑOR. Sobre el umbral estaban su cabeza y sus dos manos, separadas del tronco.

5 Por eso, hasta el día de hoy, ninguno de los que entran en el templo de Dagón en Asdod, incluso los sacerdotes, pisan el umbral.

INTRODUCTION TO FIRST SAMUEL 5

This chapter relates how that the ark being brought by the Philistines to Ashdod, and placed in the temple of their idol, that fell down before it, 1Sa 5:1-5, that the hand of the Lord was upon the men of Ashdod, and smote them with emerods, 1Sa 5:6,7 and being carried to Gath, the men of Gath were smitten likewise with the same, 1Sa 5:8,9, and after that the men of Ekron, whither it also was carried, 1Sa 5:10-12.
