Then Joab sent
Messengers to David, as soon as Uriah was killed:

and told David all the things concerning the war;
how the siege had been carried on; what success they had had, good or ill; what their advantages and disadvantages; what men they had lost, and especially in one sally of the enemy upon them, for the sake of which the express was sent.

16 Como Joabe tinha cercado a cidade, colocou Urias no lugar onde sabia que os inimigos eram mais fortes.
17 Quando os homens da cidade saíram e lutaram contra Joabe, alguns dos oficiais da guarda de Davi morreram, e morreu também Urias, o hitita.
18 Joabe enviou a Davi um relatório completo da batalha,

20 pode ser que o rei fique muito indignado e lhe pergunte: ‘Por que vocês se aproximaram tanto da cidade para combater? Não sabiam que eles atirariam flechas da muralha?
