Daniel 3:9 Meaning and Commentary

Daniel 3:9

They spake and said to Nebuchadnezzar
Having got access unto him, and within his hearing, they expressed themselves in the following manner: O king, live for ever;
this they said to show their fidelity and hearty attachment to him, and their regard to his welfare, and the continuance of his life; and the rather to ingratiate themselves into his affections, and gain audience of him; (See Gill on Daniel 2:4).

7 Por isso, logo que ouviram o som da trombeta, do pífaro, da cítara, da harpa, do saltério e de toda espécie de música, os homens de todas as nações, povos e línguas prostraram-se em terra e adoraram a imagem de ouro que o rei Nabucodonosor mandara erguer.
8 Nesse momento alguns astrĂłlogos se aproximaram e denunciaram os judeus,
9 dizendo ao rei Nabucodonosor: “Ó rei, vive para sempre!
10 Tu emitiste um decreto, ó rei, ordenando que todo aquele que ouvisse o som da trombeta, do pífaro, da cítara, da harpa, do saltério, da flauta dupla e de toda espécie de música se prostrasse em terra e adorasse a imagem de ouro,
11 e que todo aquele que nĂŁo se prostrasse em terra e nĂŁo a adorasse seria atirado numa fornalha em chamas.
