16 Tornarei a sua descendência tão numerosa como o pó da terra. Se for possível contar o pó da terra, também se poderá contar a sua descendência.

Genesis 13:16

And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth
An hyperbolical expression denoting the great multitude of Abram's posterity, as they were in the days of Solomon, and as they will be in the latter day; and especially as this may respect all the spiritual seed of Abram, Jews and Gentiles, and as they will be in the spiritual reign of Christ, see ( Hosea 1:10 Hosea 1:11 ) ; so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, [then] shall thy
seed be numbered;
but as it is impossible to do the one, so the other is not practicable, see ( Numbers 23:10 ) .

14 Disse o SENHOR a Abrão, depois que Ló separou-se dele: “De onde você está, olhe para o norte, para o sul, para o leste e para o oeste:

15 toda a terra que você está vendo darei a você e à sua descendência para sempre.

16 Tornarei a sua descendência tão numerosa como o pó da terra. Se for possível contar o pó da terra, também se poderá contar a sua descendência.

17 Percorra esta terra de alto a baixo, de um lado a outro, porque eu a darei a você”.

18 Então Abrão mudou seu acampamento e passou a viver próximo aos carvalhos de Manre, em Hebrom, onde construiu um altar dedicado ao SENHOR.
