O Arrependimento de Nínive

1 A palavra do SENHOR veio a Jonas pela segunda vez com esta ordem:

2 “Vá à grande cidade de Nínive e pregue contra ela a mensagem que eu lhe darei”.

3 Jonas obedeceu à palavra do SENHOR e foi para Nínive. Era uma cidade muito grande,^[a] sendo necessários três dias para percorrê-la.

4 Jonas entrou na cidade e a percorreu durante um dia, proclamando: “Daqui a quarenta dias Nínive será destruída”.

INTRODUCTION TO JONAH 3

This chapter gives an account of the renewal of Jonah's message to Nineveh, and of his faithful execution of it, Jon 3:1-4; and of the fruit and effect of it, the conversion of the Ninevites, their faith in God, repentance of their sins, and reformation from them, Jon 3:5-9; and of God's approbation thereof, by revoking the sentence he had pronounced upon them, Jon 3:10.
