Nehemiah 11:2

And the people blessed all the men that willingly offered
themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.
] Who were not taken by lot, but of their own accord settled at Jerusalem; they praised them for it, and wished them all happiness and prosperity, since they denied themselves of ease and profit for the sake of the public good; and it is this which makes the difference between the list of the inhabitants of Jerusalem in ( 1 Chronicles 9:2 ) &c. and this here, that takes in all that settled there, whether voluntarily or by lot; this only such as were fixed by the lot, and of them only those who were of greatest note and esteem, as Jarchi observes, and so it follows.

1 Os líderes do povo passaram a morar em Jerusalém, e o restante do povo fez um sorteio para que, de cada dez pessoas, uma viesse morar em Jerusalém, a santa cidade; as outras nove deveriam ficar em suas próprias cidades.

2 O povo abençoou todos os homens que se apresentaram voluntariamente para morar em Jerusalém.

3 Alguns israelitas, sacerdotes, levitas, servos do templo e descendentes dos servos de Salomão viviam nas cidades de Judá, cada um em sua propriedade. Estes são os líderes da província que passaram a morar em Jerusalém

4 (além deles veio gente tanto de Judá quanto de Benjamim viver em Jerusalém):Entre os descendentes de Judá:Ataías, filho de Uzias, neto de Zacarias, bisneto de Amarias; Amarias era filho de Sefatias e neto de Maalaleel, descendente de Perez.

5 Maaseias, filho de Baruque, neto de Col-Hozé, bisneto de Hazaías; Hazaías era filho de Adaías, neto de Joiaribe e bisneto de Zacarias, descendente de Selá.
