1 Hiram, roi de Tyr, envoya de ses serviteurs vers Salomon, quand il eut appris qu'on l'avait oint pour roi à la place de son père; car Hiram avait toujours aimé David.

1 Kings 5:1

And Hiram king of Tyre sent servants unto Solomon
His ambassadors, to condole him on the death of his father, and congratulate him on his accession to the throne; this king is called by the Phoenician historians ^F19 Hirom, and by Eupolemus ^F20 Suron, as he is Huram in ( 2 Chronicles 2:3 ) ; and by Theophilus of Antioch ^F21 Hierom the son of Abelmalus, in the twelfth year of whose reign the temple was built:

for he had heard that they had anointed him, king in the room of his
father;
that the Israelites had anointed him king:

for Hiram was ever a lover of David;
a friend and ally of his; and we never read of the Tyrians being at war with him, or assisting any of his enemies.

2 Et Salomon envoya vers Hiram, pour lui dire:

3 Tu sais que David, mon père, n'a pu bâtir une maison au nom de l'Éternel son Dieu, à cause de la guerre dont ses ennemis l'environnaient, jusqu'à ce que l'Éternel les eût mis sous ses pieds.

4 Et maintenant l'Éternel mon Dieu m'a donné du repos de toutes parts; je n'ai point d'adversaire ni d'affaire fâcheuse.

5 Voici donc, je me propose de bâtir une maison au nom de l'Éternel mon Dieu, selon que l'Éternel en a parlé à David, mon père, en disant: Ton fils, que je mettrai à ta place sur ton trône, sera celui qui bâtira une maison à mon nom.
