1 So all Israel was listed in the official records of Israel's kings. Judah was carried into exile in Babylon because of their unfaithfulness.
1 So all Israel was recorded by genealogies, and indeed, they were inscribed in the book of the kings of Israel. But Judah was carried away captive to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness.
2 The first to resettle their property in their towns were the Israelite people, the priests, the Levites, and the temple servants.
2 And the first inhabitants who dwelt in their possessions in their cities were Israelites, priests, Levites, and the Nethinim.
3 Those settling in Jerusalem included some from Judah, some from Benjamin, and some from Ephraim and Manasseh:

13 and their relatives, heads of their households, 1,760 capable men for the religious work of God's house.
13 and their brethren, heads of their fathers' houses--one thousand seven hundred and sixty. They were very able men for the work of the service of the house of God.
14 From the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hasshub son of Azrikam son of Hashabiah, from Merari's family;

17 The gatekeepers: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, and Ahiman. Their brother Shallum was the leader,
17 And the gatekeepers were Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their brethren. Shallum was the chief.
18 stationed until now in the King's Gate on the east side. These were the gatekeepers belonging to the Levites' camp.
18 Until then they had been gatekeepers for the camps of the children of Levi at the King's Gate on the east.
19 Shallum, Kore's son, Ebiasaph's grandson, and Korah's great-grandson, and his relatives belonging to his household, the Korahites, served as gatekeepers at the tent's entrances, as their ancestors had been gatekeepers at the entrance to the LORD's camp.
19 Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brethren, from his father's house, the Korahites, were in charge of the work of the service, gatekeepers of the tabernacle. Their fathers had been keepers of the entrance to the camp of the Lord.
20 Phinehas, Eleazar's son, the LORD be with him, was their leader in former times.
20 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar had been the officer over them in time past; the Lord was with him.
21 Zechariah, Meshelemiah's son, was gatekeeper at the meeting tent's entrance.
21 Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was keeper of the door of the tabernacle of meeting.
22 All those selected as gatekeepers at the entrances were two hundred twelve. They were listed in the family records by their settlements. David and Samuel the seer assigned them to their trusted position.
22 All those chosen as gatekeepers were two hundred and twelve. They were recorded by their genealogy, in their villages. David and Samuel the seer had appointed them to their trusted office.
23 So they and their descendants were the gatekeepers guarding the LORD's house, that is, the tent.
23 So they and their children were in charge of the gates of the house of the Lord, the house of the tabernacle, by assignment.
24 The gatekeepers were on the four sides: east, west, north, and south.

25 Their relatives came in from their settlements, from time to time, to assist them for a period of seven days.

27 They would spend the night patrolling God's house since they had guard duty and were responsible for unlocking it every morning.

28 Some of them were responsible for the worship objects; they counted them when they were brought in and taken out.
28 Now some of them were in charge of the serving vessels, for they brought them in and took them out by count.
29 Others were appointed over the furniture, the holy equipment, the flour, wine, oil, incense, and spices.

30 Some of the priests blended the ointment for the spices;
30 And some of the sons of the priests made the ointment of the spices.
31 and Mattithiah, one of the Levites, the oldest son of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with baking the flat cakes.
31 Mattithiah of the Levites, the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, had the trusted office over the things that were baked in the pans.
32 Also some of their Kohathite relatives were responsible for preparing the stacks of bread for each Sabbath.
32 And some of their brethren of the sons of the Kohathites were in charge of preparing the showbread for every Sabbath.
33 The singers were the heads of the households of the Levites. They lived in temple rooms and were free from other service because they were on duty day and night.
33 These are the singers, heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites, who lodged in the chambers, and were free from other duties; for they were employed in that work day and night.
34 These were the heads of the households of the Levites, according to descent. They lived in Jerusalem.

35 Jeiel, Gibeon's father, lived in Gibeon. His wife's name was Maacah.

39 Ner was the father of Kish, Kish of Saul, Saul of Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Esh-baal.
39 Ner begot Kish, Kish begot Saul, and Saul begot Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Esh-Baal.
40 Jonathan's son was Merib-baal, and Merib-baal was the father of Micah.
40 The son of Jonathan was Merib-Baal, and Merib-Baal begot Micah.
41 Micah's family were Pithon, Melech, Tahrea, and Ahaz.
41 The sons of Micah were Pithon, Melech, Tahrea, and Ahaz.
42 Ahaz was the father of Jarah; and Jarah of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. Zimri was the father of Moza.
42 And Ahaz begot Jarah; Jarah begot Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri begot Moza;
43 Moza was the father of Binea; Rephaiah was his son, Eleasah was his son, and Azel was his son.

44 Azel had six sons whose names were Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan. This was Azel's family.
44 And Azel had six sons whose names were these: Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan; these were the sons of Azel.
