1 David conquista Rabá<br />En la primavera,<br /> cuando los reyes suelen salir a la guerra, Joab dirigió al ejército en una serie de ataques exitosos contra la tierra de los amonitas. Durante esas operaciones sitió la ciudad de Rabá, la atacó y la destruyó. Sin embargo, David se quedó en Jerusalén.

In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, Joab led out the armed forces. He laid waste the land of the Ammonites and went to Rabbah and besieged it, but David remained in Jerusalem. Joab attacked Rabbah and left it in ruins.
2 Cuando David llegó a Rabá quitó la corona de la cabeza del rey<br /> y la colocaron sobre la de él. La corona estaba hecha de oro con gemas incrustadas y David descubrió que pesaba treinta y cuatro kilos.<br /> Además, David se llevó un enorme botín de la ciudad.

David took the crown from the head of their king —its weight was found to be a talent of gold, and it was set with precious stones—and it was placed on David’s head. He took a great quantity of plunder from the city
3 También hizo esclavos a los habitantes de Rabá y los forzó a trabajar con sierras, picos y hachas de hierro.<br /> Así trató David a la gente de todas las ciudades amonitas. Luego David regresó a Jerusalén con todo el ejército.

and brought out the people who were there, consigning them to labor with saws and with iron picks and axes. David did this to all the Ammonite towns. Then David and his entire army returned to Jerusalem.
4 Batallas contra gigantes filisteos<br />Después de esto se desató la guerra contra los filisteos de Gezer. Mientras peleaban, Sibecai de Husa mató a Saf,<br /> un descendiente de los gigantes,<br /> y así fueron sometidos los filisteos.

In the course of time, war broke out with the Philistines, at Gezer. At that time Sibbekai the Hushathite killed Sippai, one of the descendants of the Rephaites, and the Philistines were subjugated.
5 Durante otra batalla contra los filisteos, Elhanán, hijo de Jair, mató a Lahmi, el hermano de Goliat de Gat. ¡El asta de la lanza de Lahmi era tan gruesa como un rodillo de telar!

In another battle with the Philistines, Elhanan son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver’s rod.
6 En otra batalla contra los filisteos en Gat, se enfrentaron con un hombre enorme que tenía seis dedos en cada mano y seis en cada pie, veinticuatro dedos en total, que era también descendiente de los gigantes.

In still another battle, which took place at Gath, there was a huge man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot—twenty-four in all. He also was descended from Rapha.

When he taunted Israel, Jonathan son of Shimea, David’s brother, killed him.

These were descendants of Rapha in Gath, and they fell at the hands of David and his men.
