1 Così portarono l’Arca di Dio, e la posarono in mezzo del padiglione che Davide le avea teso; poi offersero olocausti, e sacrificii da render grazie, davanti a Dio.

2 E quando Davide ebbe finito di offerir gli olocausti, e i sacrificii da render grazie, benedisse il popolo nel Nome del Signore.

3 E spartì a tutti gl’Israeliti, così agli uomini, come alle donne, una focaccia di pane, ed un pezzo di carne, ed un fiasco di vino per uno.

4 Ed ordinò d’infra i Leviti, alcuni ministri per rammemorare, e per celebrare, e per lodare il Signore Iddio d’Israele, davanti all’Arca del Signore;

5 Asaf era il capo, e Zaccaria il secondo dopo lui; poi erano Ieiel, e Semiramot, e Iehiel, e Mattitia, ed Eliab, e Benaia, ed Obed-Edom. Or Ieiel sonava con salteri e con cetere; ed Asaf con cembali.

6 E Benaia, e Iahaziel, sacerdoti, sonavano del continuo con trombe, davanti all’Arca del Patto di Dio.

7 ALLORA, in quello stesso giorno, Davide diede primieramente questo salmo in mano ad Asaf, ed a’ suoi fratelli, per celebrare il Signore:

8 Celebrate il Signore, predicate il suo Nome, E fate chiari e conti i suoi fatti fra i popoli.

9 Cantate a lui, salmeggiategli, Ragionate di tutte le sue maraviglie.

10 Gloriatevi nel Nome della sua santità; Rallegrisi il cuor di coloro che cercano il Signore.

11 Cercate il Signore, e la sua forza; Ricercate del continuo la sua faccia.

12 Ricordate le sue maraviglie ch’egli ha fatte; I suoi miracoli, e i giudicii della sua bocca;

13 O progenie d’Israele, suo servitore; Figliuoli di Giacobbe, suoi eletti.

14 Egli è il Signore Iddio nostro; I suoi giudicii sono per tutta la terra.

15 Ricordatevi in perpetuo del suo patto, E in mille generazioni della parola ch’egli ha comandata;

16 Del suo patto, ch’egli fece con Abrahamo, E del suo giuramento ch’egli diede ad Isacco.

17 Il quale egli confermò a Giacobbe, per istatuto; E ad Israele, per patto eterno;

18 Dicendo: Io ti darò il paese di Canaan, Per sorte della vostra eredità;

19 Quantunque voi siate in piccol numero, Ben poca gente, e forestieri in esso.

20 E mentre essi andavano qua e là da una gente ad un’altra, E da un regno ad un altro popolo;

21 Non permise che alcuno li oppressasse, Anzi castigò dei re per amor loro,

22 Dicendo: Non toccate i miei Unti, E non fate male a’ miei profeti.

23 Cantate al Signore, o abitanti di tutta la terra, Predicate tuttodì la sua salute.

24 Raccontate la sua gloria fra le genti, Le sue maraviglie fra tutti i popoli.

25 Perciocchè il Signore è grande, e degno di gran laude; Ed è tremendo sopra tutti gl’iddii.

26 Perciocchè tutti gl’iddii de’ popoli sono idoli; Ma il Signore ha fatti i cieli.

27 Maestà e magnificenza sono davanti a lui; Forza e letizia sono nel luogo dove egli abita.

28 O voi, nazioni de’ popoli, rendete al Signore, Rendete al Signore gloria e potenza;

29 Rendete al Signore la gloria dovuta al suo Nome; Recate offerte, e venite davanti a lui; Adorate il Signore nel magnifico santuario.

30 Tremate, o abitanti di tutta la terra, per la sua presenza; Certo il mondo sarà stabilito, senza potere esser più smosso.

31 Rallegrinsi i cieli, e festeggi la terra, E dicasi fra le genti: Il Signore regna.

32 Risuoni il mare, e quello che in esso si contiene; Festeggino le campagne, e tutto quello ch’è in esse.

33 Allora gli alberi delle selve sclameranno di allegrezza, Per la presenza del Signore; Perciocchè egli viene per giudicar la terra.

34 Celebrate il Signore; perciocchè egli è buono; Perciocchè la sua benignità è in eterno.

35 E dite: Salvaci, o Dio della nostra salute, Raccoglici, e riscuotici dalle nazioni; Acciocchè celebriamo il Nome della tua santità, E ci gloriamo nella tua laude.

36 Benedetto sia il Signore Iddio d’Israele da un secolo all’altro. E tutto il popolo disse: Amen; e lodò il Signore.

37 DAVIDE adunque lasciò quivi, davanti all’Arca del Patto del Signore, Asaf e i suoi fratelli, per ministrar del continuo davanti all’Arca, giorno per giorno del continuo.

38 Lasciò ancora Obed-Edom, figliuolo di Iedutun, ed Hosa, co’ lor fratelli, in numero di sessantotto.

39 Lasciò eziandio il sacerdote Sadoc, co’ sacerdoti suoi fratelli, davanti al Tabernacolo del Signore, nell’alto luogo ch’era in Gabaon;

40 per offerir del continuo, sera e mattina, olocausti al Signore sopra l’Altare degli olocausti; e per far tutto quello che è scritto nella Legge del Signore, la quale egli ha data ad Israele.

41 E con loro, erano Heman, e Iedutun, e gli altri ch’erano stati eletti, e nominatamente ordinati per celebrare il Signore perciocchè la sua benignità è in eterno;

42 erano, dico, con loro Heman, e Iedutun, con trombe, e con cembali, per li sonatori, e con altri strumenti della musica di Dio. E i figliuoli di Iedutun aveano la cura della porta.

43 Poi tutto il popolo se ne andò, ciascuno a casa sua. E Davide se ne ritornò per benedire la casa sua.

Good News Translation GNT

1 They took the Covenant Box to the tent which David had prepared for it and put it inside. Then they offered sacrifices and fellowship offerings to God.

2 After David had finished offering the sacrifices, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord

3 and distributed food to them all. He gave each man and woman in Israel a loaf of bread, a piece of roasted meat, and some raisins.

4 David appointed some of the Levites to lead the worship of the Lord, the God of Israel, in front of the Covenant Box, by singing and praising him.

5 Asaph was appointed leader, with Zechariah as his assistant. Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed Edom, and Jeiel were to play harps. Asaph was to sound the cymbals,

6 and two priests, Benaiah and Jahaziel, were to blow trumpets regularly in front of the Covenant Box.

7 It was then that David first gave Asaph and the other Levites the responsibility for singing praises to the Lord.

8 Give thanks to the Lord, proclaim his greatness; tell the nations what he has done.

9 Sing praise to the Lord; tell the wonderful things he has done.

10 Be glad that we belong to him; let all who worship him rejoice!

11 Go to the Lord for help, and worship him continually.

12 You descendants of Jacob, God's servant, descendants of Israel, whom God chose, remember the miracles that God performed and the judgments that he gave.

14 The Lord is our God; his commands are for all the world.

15 Never forget God's covenant, which he made to last forever,

16 the covenant he made with Abraham, the promise he made to Isaac.

17 The Lord made a covenant with Jacob, one that will last forever.

18 "I will give you the land of Canaan," he said. "It will be your own possession."

19 God's people were few in number, strangers in the land of Canaan.

20 They wandered from country to country, from one kingdom to another.

21 But God let no one oppress them; to protect them, he warned the kings:

22 "Don't harm my chosen servants; do not touch my prophets."

23 Sing to the Lord, all the world! Proclaim every day the good news that he has saved us.

24 Proclaim his glory to the nations, his mighty deeds to all peoples.

25 The Lord is great and is to be highly praised; he is to be honored more than all the gods.

26 The gods of all other nations are only idols, but the Lord created the heavens.

27 Glory and majesty surround him, power and joy fill his Temple.

28 Praise the Lord, all people on earth, praise his glory and might.

29 Praise the Lord's glorious name; bring an offering and come into his Temple. Bow down before the Holy One when he appears;

30 tremble before him, all the earth! The earth is set firmly in place and cannot be moved.

31 Be glad, earth and sky! Tell the nations that the Lord is king.

32 Roar, sea, and every creature in you; be glad, fields, and everything in you!

33 The trees in the woods will shout for joy when the Lord comes to rule the earth.

34 Give thanks to the Lord, because he is good; his love is eternal.

35 Say to him, "Save us, O God our Savior; gather us together; rescue us from the nations, so that we may be thankful and praise your holy name."

36 Praise the Lord, the God of Israel! Praise him now and forever! Then all the people said, "Amen," and praised the Lord.

37 King David put Asaph and the other Levites in permanent charge of the worship that was held at the place where the Covenant Box was kept. They were to perform their duties there day by day.

38 Obed Edom son of Jeduthun and sixty-eight men of his clan were to assist them. Hosah and Obed Edom were in charge of guarding the gates.

39 Zadok the priest and his fellow priests, however, were in charge of the worship of the Lord at the place of worship in Gibeon.

40 Every morning and evening they were to burn sacrifices whole on the altar in accordance with what was written in the Law which the Lord gave to Israel.

41 There with them were Heman and Jeduthun and the others who were specifically chosen to sing praises to the Lord for his eternal love.

42 Heman and Jeduthun also had charge of the trumpets and cymbals and the other instruments which were played when the songs of praise were sung. The members of Jeduthun's clan were in charge of guarding the gates.

43 Then everyone went home, and David went home to spend some time with his family.
