1 IL re Salomone adunque fu re sopra tutto Israele.

Solomon was king of all Israel,
2 E questi erano i principali signori della sua corte: Azaria, figliuolo di Sadoc, era Governatore;

and these were his high officials: The priest: Azariah son of Zadok
3 Elihoref ed Ahia, figliuoli di Sisa, erano Segretari; Iosafat, figliuolo di Ahilud, era Cancelliere;

Solomon appointed twelve men as district governors in Israel. They were to provide food from their districts for the king and his household, each man being responsible for one month out of the year.

13 Il figliuolo di Gheber, in Ramot di Galaad; del suo ripartimento erano le villate di Iair, figliuol di Manasse, che sono in Galaad; ed anche la contrada di Argob che è in Basan; sessanta gran città murate, con isbarre di rame.

Bengeber: the city of Ramoth in Gilead, and the villages in Gilead belonging to the clan of Jair, a descendant of Manasseh, and the region of Argob in Bashan, sixty large towns in all, fortified with walls and with bronze bars on the gates

The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as the grains of sand on the seashore; they ate and drank, and were happy.
21 E Salomone signoreggiava sopra tutti i regni di qua dal Fiume, infino al paese de’ Filistei, ed infino a’ confini di Egitto; essi portavano presenti a Salomone, e furono suoi soggetti tutto il tempo della vita sua.

Solomon's kingdom included all the nations from the Euphrates River to Philistia and the Egyptian border. They paid him taxes and were subject to him all his life.
22 Ora la provvisione della vittuaglia di Salomone, per ciascun giorno, era di trenta cori di fior di farina, e di sessanta cori d’altra farina;

The supplies Solomon needed each day were 150 bushels of fine flour and 300 bushels of meal;
23 di dieci buoi grassi, e di venti buoi di pasco, e di cento montoni, oltre a’ cervi, e cavriuoli, e daini, e pollame di stia.

10 stall-fed cattle, 20 pasture-fed cattle, and 100 sheep, besides deer, gazelles, roebucks, and poultry.
24 Perciocchè egli signoreggiava in tutto il paese di qua del Fiume, da Tifsa fino in Gaza, sopra tutti i re ch’erano di qua dal Fiume; ed avea pace d’intorno a sè da ogni lato.

Solomon ruled over all the land west of the Euphrates River, from Tiphsah on the Euphrates as far west as the city of Gaza. All the kings west of the Euphrates were subject to him, and he was at peace with all the neighboring countries.
25 E Giuda ed Israele dimoravano in sicurtà, ciascuno sotto alla sua vite, e sotto al suo fico, da Dan fino in Beerseba, tutto il tempo di Salomone.

As long as he lived, the people throughout Judah and Israel lived in safety, each family with its own grapevines and fig trees.
26 Salomone avea ancora quarantamila luoghi da cavalli per li suoi carri, e per dodicimila cavalieri.

Solomon had forty thousand stalls for his chariot horses and twelve thousand cavalry horses.
27 E que’ commissari, un mese dell’anno per uno, provvedevano di vittuaglia il re Salomone, e tutti quelli che si accostavano alla sua tavola; non lasciavano mancar cosa alcuna.

His twelve governors, each one in the month assigned to him, supplied the food King Solomon needed for himself and for all who ate in the palace; they always supplied everything needed.
28 Facevano eziandio venir l’orzo e la paglia, per i cavalli e per i muli, nel luogo dove erano; ciascuno secondo la sua commissione.

Each governor also supplied his share of barley and straw, where it was needed, for the chariot horses and the work animals.
29 E IDDIO diede sapienza a Salomone, e grandissimo senno, ed un animo capace di tante cose, quant’è la rena ch’è in sul lito del mare.

God gave Solomon unusual wisdom and insight, and knowledge too great to be measured.
30 E la sapienza di Salomone fu maggiore che la sapienza di tutti gli Orientali, e che tutta la sapienza degli Egizi;

Solomon was wiser than the wise men of the East or the wise men of Egypt.
31 talchè egli era più savio che alcun altro uomo; più ch’Etan Ezrahita, e che Heman, e che Calcol e che Darda, figliuoli di Mahol; e la sua fama andò per tutte le nazioni d’ogn’intorno.

He was the wisest of all men: wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol, and his fame spread throughout all the neighboring countries.
32 Ed egli pronunziò tremila sentenze; ed i suoi cantici furono in numero di mille e cinque.

He composed three thousand proverbs and more than a thousand songs.
33 Parlò eziandio degli alberi, dal cedro ch’è nel Libano, fino all’isopo che nasce nella parete; parlò anche delle bestie, e degli uccelli, e de’ rettili, e de’ pesci.

He spoke of trees and plants, from the Lebanon cedars to the hyssop that grows on walls; he talked about animals, birds, reptiles, and fish.
34 E da tutti i popoli, da parte di tutti i re della terra, che aveano udito parlare della sapienza di Salomone, si veniva per udire la sua sapienza.

Kings all over the world heard of his wisdom and sent people to listen to him.
